My school day started with one of my 5th grade boys chasing me into the cafeteria. He's yelling, "Mrs. Rives, Mrs. Rives... wait, I've got something for you". So, I turned around to wait for him and he pulls a plastic bag out of his backpack. As he hands it to me, I'm thinking to myself..."oh my, I can't believe he brought me one of these..." an apple for the teacher.
I haven't gotten an apple in YEARS. But this was not just any apple. It was a Honey Crisp apple. Truly the best apple that ever walked the planet. I know, apples can't walk, but if an apple could walk, this one would've walked on water! Seriously great taste. And as big as a cantelope. They literally drip when you cut 'em, and around here they're $3 a pound. I was going to buy one for myself the other day, and one apple weighed a pound. I just couldn't bring myself to pay $3 for one apple.
C.J. told me that he also bought one for himself (he'd never had one before)... he spent $6 on two apples. From 7:30 until noon today, my classroom smelled heavenly. That apple freshened the entire room. At lunch I shared it with C.J. and a couple of the other kids that wanted to try it. The kids are as hooked as I am.
So, if you haven't tried a Honey Crisp apple and have a couple of dollars to spare, go get one... but you better hurry. They have a very short season. I promise, you won't regret it!
And another thing you won't regret??? Posting a comment on my blog. After all, it's Thursday, which means tomorrow's Friday. And Friday's the day that my dh is drawing a winner for my celebration RAK! Good luck everyone!

Such a cute story!!! I don't know who has a crush on who!!! I will definately have to try one of those delish apples... even if they cost more than a gallon of gas!!!
sounds wonderful and a great story. I will have to see if I can get my hands on one of those apples.
Oh, how wonderful is that! I will have to remember that, so the boys can take it in for their teachers too! :D I don't think I can get that apple here, though. Sometimes living in Hawaii isn't all paradise ;).
Seriously craving an apple now! LOL! Apples are the friendliest fruit of the bunch, don't you think! Cute story!
That's the sweetest story. Its so heartwarming to hear about children whose parents have raised them right. It brought a little tear to my eye actually (but I am a wuss so...)
You are so funny! My DH and I go apple picking every fall and a couple of years ago we actually tried Honey Crisp apples for the first time and they are a favorite. Really crisp and light with such a sweet flavor, we actually just found some a week ago at our local farmers market. Enjoy the season and the treats that it offers!

I had never heard of that kind of apple. They dont have anything fun like that in the small town I am from, but I will definetly keep my eyes open for one. Did you get any pictures because that would make a great layout!!!

That is so sweet!! Kids can suprise you so much! I've never heard of those apples. I'm going to have to see if they're available here!
I have received a few apples lately too, but not one that sounds like the one you are talking about. I wonder if they are found out here? I am glad you are settling in and hope the house sells soon. I know Brandy is missing you something awful.
