...this guy? Well, he was my first Maya Road assignment. I was asked to make something with bottlecaps and this is what I came up with. Well, that was over a month ago and would you believe that I've been asked for directions to make him several times in the last 48 hours. It didn't even occur to me at the time I made him that it would be a great idea to post directions on my blog... can you tell I'm an amateur? Oh well, here are the directions. Better late than never, right?1. Use a Crop-a-dile to punch two small holes in the edge of one bottlecap... directly across from one another. This will be the middle bottlecap and the holes go on the sides (so the arms can eventually go through them).
2. Roll white Crayola model magic clay into three walnut size balls, then placed a couple of glue dots in the bottom of 3 bottlecaps and put a ball of clay on top of each - flatten the clay.
3. Cut two lengths of lightweight copper jewelry wire (I used about 12 inches of it). Twist and wrap the copper wire back on itself until you get "sticks" for arms (I just kept messing with them until I got them the way I wanted them). Push the "arms" into the holes on the sides of the middle bottlecap.
4. Use a sponge brush and Modge Podge the top of each piece of clay and glitter.
5. I used black brads for the eyes, and mouth and orange for the nose (just push them in with the "braddy" part straight out like it is when you get them out of the package).
6. Use Maya Road Fresh chipboard hearts for the buttons (and I covered them with red paper).
7. Cut hat from black felt (the glittery kind).
8. Use any Maya Road Ribbon for the hat band.
9. Decorate the hat band with any Maya Road chippie that suits you.
10. Use a glue dot on the back of each bottlecap and attach to whatever project you like!
Have fun!

thanks so much for sharing your steps Aubrey...that is just amazing :)
ADORABLE. I'm bookmarking these instructions. Thanks for sharing and thanks bunches for taking the time to post the instructions. That sure makes it easy to scraplift the idea when I make snowman frames for my family members next Christmas (grin)
