Life just gets better...

and harder. My husband and I drove our girls to Austin this past weekend to try out for a top-notch girls fastpitch softball team. An organization that has had the likes of Cat Osterman and Kristen Zaleski as part of their coaching staff. I had every hope that they would make the team and confidence that they would do their absolute best. But, I don't think that I was really ready for how quickly our lives would change if the coach said, "I want YOU". Well, want them the coaches did. The oldest made the 14U team and the youngest made the 12U team. What does that mean to us? It means that they are one step closer to playing softball on a college level. One step closer to a dream they both share. And, it means that I'm driving them to Austin 2 days a week. Once on Tuesday nights and once again on Sunday afternoons. When I doubt whether that was a good decision (as I'm sure I will over the next 15 weeks), I'll have only to look at this picture and hundreds more like it. I'll see their determination, their competitive spirit and their drive to succeed and I'll know that we're doing the right thing. If someone had tried to tell me years ago that I would be doing this very thing, I would have called them crazy. Is there any limit to what we'll do for our kids? I don't believe so.
***I should note (for those that don't know), Austin is 2 hours from where we currently live.
